David "Flash" Gordon, age 66, of Monroe, Wisconsin passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Monroe Clinic following a heart attack, with his family by his side.
Dave was born on December 1, 1949 in Dodgeville, WI to Mareta M. Fenley and Robert C. Gordon. He spent many of his summers growing up on his grandparents' farm outside of Mineral Point, WI. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in Illinois in 1968. On September 11, 1971 he was united in marriage to Faye Goecks at St. John's UCC in Monroe. Dave and Faye were married for over 44 years, had twin boys, and made their home in Monroe. Dave worked for over 41 years with Colony Brands, Inc. in various positions.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Faye, sons Mike (Jenny) of Byron, MN and Matt (Allison) of Waukesha, WI. He was "Papa" to Kyla, Ryan (Mike and Jenny), Max and Abi (Matt and Allison). He is also survived by: sisters, Mary Jane (Dave) Warkins (their children Brad Warkins and Laura Cole), Mt. Morris, IL and Ruth Gordon-Haas (son Carson Haas), Spring Green, WI; half-siblings R. Clark (Dena) Gordon, New Glarus, WI, Chuck Gordon, and Heidi Robertson; a sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law; and several lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Bea and Ernie Goecks.
Dave was happiest when he was fishing, hunting, searching for morel mushrooms, golfing, playing cards or watching the Packers. He loved the outdoors and being active. He was an avid reader of Western novels and enjoyed relaxing in the three-season room while watching the sun set. He was always finding a project or something to tinker with around the house. Dave was especially proud of his sons and their families and cherished his time with his four grandchildren. Those who knew him always knew that they could count on him for anything.
Dave will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, Papa, and true friend. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 28th, from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Shriner Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Drive, Monroe. A memorial service will follow with Reverend Scheryl Seymour officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in his name has been established.
