Darlene R. Ellis, age 79, of Monroe, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on November 2, 1931, the daughter of Fred A. and Rose (Devlin) Broege. She attended Monroe High School. Darlene waitressed in various restaurants throughout the area and was a former member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose Chapter #599.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Michelle, Victoria and Nikki Ellis all of South Carolina. She is predeceased by her parents; son, Gayle Ellis and sister, Jeanette Marty.
A Celebration of Darlene's Life will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Matthew Spoonhour officiating. A visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood at a later date.
