Clinton L. 'Jughead' Nall

Clinton L. "Jughead" Nall, age 83 of Argyle, WI passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 at Monroe Manor in Monroe, WI. He was born April 19, 1925 in Argyle Township, Lafayette County, WI, the son of Frank R. and Pearl (Anderson) Nall. Clinton attended Apple Branch Grade School and graduated from Argyle High School. He enlisted in U. S. Navy on December 7, 1942, served aboard USS Cabot Aircraft Carrier for 26 months as a Gunner. In the Asiatic Pacific Theatre he earned a ribbon with eight bronze stars, American Theatre Philippine Lib. with two bronze stars, and Presidential Unit Citation ribbon and a victory medal. On January 17, 1946 he was honorably discharged in Great Lakes Naval Station, IL. He was united in marriage to Vivian D. Olson in Dubuque, IA on July 31, 1947. Clinton worked for Lamboley Coal and Ice Company in Monroe before farming. He farmed in the Darlington and Wiota areas. In 1960, they moved back to the Nall homestead in Argyle Township until 1974. Clinton worked for Watkins Builders in Argyle for nineteen years. He retired in 1989 doing carpentry repair jobs.

Clinton is survived by his wife: Vivian; two sons: Dennis (Karen) Nall of Ft Collins, CO, Doral (Marti) Nall of Gold Canyon, AZ; seven grandchildren: Teri (Mike) Knowlton of Ft Collins, CO, Captain Michelle Nall serving in Iraq, Timothy (Jessica) Nall of Rockton, IL, Jason (Kristen) Nall of Wiota, WI, Jeremy (Kaci) Nall of South Wayne, WI, Jennifer (Adam) Farrey of Lancaster, WI, and Jacob (Jen) Nall of Freeport, IL; twelve great-grandchildren; and one sister: Hazel Schlafli of Argyle. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: David Nall on September 6, 2001; three brothers; and two sisters, one in infancy.

Clinton was a Charter member of Argyle American Legion Post #251; he served as Post Commander twelve years, County Commander four years, Third District Vice Commander two years, was an Assessor of Argyle Township four years, Supervisor two years, and Chaplain for many years. He was a member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Argyle.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Cornerstone Lutheran Church, 1540 Old Highway 81, Argyle, WI, with Rev. Ron Brubakken officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with military graveside rites to be accorded by Argyle American Legion Post #251. A visitation will be Tuesday, March 3, 2009 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church. Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
