Clarence A. Dieter age 93 of Platteville, Wisconsin formerly of Juda area, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Platteville. He was born November 2, 1918 at Lisle, Illinois the son of Theodore and Lillian (Schwartz) Dieter. Clarence entered the U.S. Army on January 16, 1942 at Camp Grant, IL, served at Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, & Central Europe and was discharged on September 22, 1945 at Camp Grant, IL. He received the Good Conduct Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, 3 Overseas Service Bars, and a Silver Battle Star.
Clarence and Geraldine E. Schomer were married on September 25, 1948 at Annunciation Church at Marywood (Aurora) Illinois and they farmed in the Aurora, IL area and later moved and farmed in the Juda area. Clarence was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe and enjoyed playing cards but especially loved spending time with family, grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his sons, Wayne (Jackie) Dieter of Platteville, WI & Keith (Deborah) Dieter of Cuba City, WI; daughters, Lois (James) Pienkos of Central City, IA & Linda (James) Marty of Monticello, WI; 17 Grandchildren; and 11 Great-Grandchildren. He is predeceased by his Parents; Wife; brother, Hubert Dieter; and sisters, Rita Kammes & Irene Murphy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 16, 2011 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe with Fr. Larry Bakke Celebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe with Military Rites.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass on Friday at the church.
A memorial fund is being established in Clarence's memory.
