The court Tuesday sentenced Alex W. Smith, 20, Brodhead, to one year probation and fined him $367 after he pleaded no contest to possessing an illegally obtained prescription and bail jumping. He faced up to 15 months in jail and up to $10,500 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the unclassified misdemeanor and class A misdemeanor.
The court dismissed one count of possession of narcotic drugs, a class I felony. He originally faced more than four years in prison and up to $20,500 in fines.
Court records indicate he had a prescription pill in his possession Feb. 8 in Brodhead. He was on bond for possession of marijuana at the time of the incident.
Craig O. Albright, 37, Monroe, remains free on a $2,500 signature bond after making his initial appearance Monday for child abuse, battery and disorderly conduct.
Court records allege he picked a child up and then dropped her on the floor and grabbed a woman's arm May 4 at a Monroe residence.
He is charged with physical abuse of a child, a class I felony, battery, a class A misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He faces more than four years in prison and up to $21,000 in fines, if convicted.
His preliminary hearing is May 21.
Dustin J. Olson, 18, Monroe, remains free on a $2,000 signature bond after making his initial appearance Monday for bail jumping.
Court records allege he violated his court ordered curfew May 2. He was on bond for driving a vehicle without the owner's consent at the time of the incident.
He is charged with bail jumping, a class H felony. He faces up to six years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines, if convicted.
His preliminary hearing is May 22.
