Misdemeanors

• Faith Ann Thompson, 51, and Richard Earl Thompson, 53, both of Monroe, were sentenced April 3 to 10 days in jail for misdemeanor convictions of retail theft as a party to a crime. They are also ordered to jointly pay $132.89 in restitution to Piggly Wiggly. Court records indicate they shoplifted four bottles of Crown Royal liquors on Oct. 15 from Dick's Piggly Wiggly, 725 8th St., Monroe.

• Tiffany Danielle Fosler, 33, Monroe, pleaded no contest April 10 to a Class A misdemeanor charge of theft in a business setting and was sentenced to one year on probation, with conditions that she pay $1,000 in restitution. Court records indicate Fosler admitted to stealing from the Monroe Boco BP gas station, 907 20th Ave., while employed there in 2017. She told an investigator she was "scrambling around to pay everything" and her boyfriend was unemployed. She said she used the money to pay his child support payments and to pay for child care. She told the investigator she has every intention of paying it back.

• Guadalupe Sarmiento Gomez, 20, Monroe, pleaded guilty April 10 to a Class A misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree sexual assault, with a second count dismissed as part of a plea agreement, and was sentenced to one year on probation, with conditions that he pay the court $443 and undergo all treatment and counseling his agent deems appropriate. Court records indicate he sexually touched a 16-year-old girl at a party in January 2017, even after she told him to stop. He admitted the assault to police and explained that he had been "drinking heavily" and felt bad about what happened but "felt (he and the girl) were still friends."
