Casey Brannon Murray, 20, Monticello, was granted a one-year stay of proceedings Wednesday, March 20, on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and violating a domestic-abuse temporary restraining order. The charges will be dismissed in one year if he pays the court $263, seeks mental health counseling, refrains from contacting the victim and attends quarterly monitoring conferences. Court records indicate he yelled and swore at a woman in a residence on East Coates Avenue in Monticello and punched a hole in the bedroom door.
Jason S. Deery, 38, Monticello, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of bail jumping, disorderly conduct and sending abusive texts and was granted a 15-month deferred prosecution starting Friday, March 22. He is ordered to pay the court $722, continue substance abuse and anger management counseling and attend quarterly monitoring conferences. Court records indicate he was disorderly with a woman in a car on Wisconsin 92 in Exeter Township last June. He is also convicted of sending a Monroe woman obscene, threatening texts on Oct. 2.

Gassman, 18, Monroe, pleaded no contest and was granted a one-year deferred prosecution Friday, March 22, on a Class I felony charge of delivering 14 grams of marijuana to an undercover informant on Sept. 19 in the Monroe Church of Christ parking lot, 103 N. 20th Ave. Conditions of his deferred prosecution include paying $163 to the court and $180 to the Stateline Area Narcotics Team to replace the drug-buy money. He is also ordered to undergo an assessment for alcohol or other drug abuse and attending quarterly monitoring conferences.

Gary Bradford Child, 47, jailed in Monroe, was charged Tuesday, March 26, with a Class H felony count of committing battery as a prisoner. Court records indicate he attacked and repeatedly hit another inmate, a 25-year-old man, on March 14. The other inmate did not sustain serious injuries beyond redness and minor bruising but was taken anyway for a checkup at Monroe Clinic, according to deputies' reports. He has an initial appearance in court April 8.
