GREEN COUNTY
FELONIES
Patrick R. Berthiaume, 23, Madison, was charged July 13 with possessing marijuana with intent to deliver, a felony, possessing psilocin mushrooms, first-offense operating while intoxicated and possessing drug paraphernalia. According to court documents, police stopped Berthiaume's car July 10 on Argue Road in New Glarus because its registration was expired. Police reportedly smelled marijuana and observed that Berthiaume's eyes appeared glassy and his pupils were constricted. Officers called for a K-9 unit, which alerted to the vehicle. Inside, they found five plastic bags containing a combined 44 grams of suspected marijuana, 3.7 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, five glass smoking devices and a digital scale. Berthiaume was arrested, transported to the hospital for a blood draw, and then taken to jail. Court records indicate he signed a $1,500 signature bond July 14 that orders him not to possess or consume nonprescription controlled substances, drive without a valid license or leave Wisconsin without the court's permission. He has a preliminary hearing July 23.
MISDEMEANORS
Nicole R. Kazar, 21, Beloit, was charged Wednesday with two counts of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct and two counts of bail jumping. The first disorderly conduct charge stems from an April 18 incident in which she allegedly punched a man she knows in the face, giving him a black eye, at a residence in the 100 block of 9th Street in Brodhead. That incident violated a condition of a $300 signature bond she signed April 16 in a separate case that orders her to have no violent or abusive contact with the man, court records indicate. The second disorderly charge stems from a May 19 incident in which she reportedly choked the man, leaving scratches on his neck, at a residence in the 100 block of 7th Street in Monroe. As a result of the incident, she again violated her bond in the previous case. Officers noted in their report that she said she pushed the man, but only so he'd get out of her way because she wanted to leave. In a later interview with police, she reportedly admitted to punching the man in the face. She has an initial appearance Aug. 3.
Tyler M. McRae, 23, Monticello, was charged July 14 with domestic-abuse-related disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and retail theft for allegedly yelling at a woman he knows while she was working at a Juda convenience store, knocking over shelves and taking a can of beer without paying. According to police reports, on June 11 McRae stormed into Olin's Oasis, W2616 Wisconsin 11, raised his voice at the woman and swore at her. He later told investigators he punched a candy rack in anger, took a 20-ounce can of Keystone Light from a cooler and left without paying. He was arrested and jailed. Court records indicate he signed a $1,000 bond Wednesday that orders him to have no contact with the woman, Olin's Oasis or his residence. McRae has a pre-trial conference Aug. 18.
