Green County Felonies

• The court Friday entered a plea of not guilty and scheduled a March 4 district attorney conference for Erika L. Ruiz, 19, Monroe, who stood mute to theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and identity theft charges.

Court records indicate she took a wallet from a woman at ShopKo Nov. 27. She used a credit card to purchase items from Wal-Mart, Dick's Piggly Wiggly, Kwik Trip and the BP gas station. She took a couple's debit card and credit card Oct. 19 and purchased items from Wal-Mart, Kwik Trip and ShopKo.

She is charged with nine counts of identity theft, each a class H felony, nine counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, two counts of theft by acquisition of a credit card and two counts of theft, each a class A misdemeanor. She faces more than 63 years in prison and more than $220,000 in fines, if convicted.

She remains free on a $10,000 signature bond.

In another case, the court entered a plea of not guilty and scheduled a March 4 district attorney conference for Ruiz after she stood mute to bail jumping.

Court records indicate she was out past her court-ordered curfew Dec. 14 in Monroe.

She is charged with bail jumping, a class H felony. She faces up to six years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines, if convicted.

She remains free on a $2,000 signature bond.

• The court Friday scheduled a March 4 district attorney conference for Barret W. Steck, 21, Monroe, who pleaded not guilty to identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Court records indicate he used a stolen credit card to purchase items Nov. 27 from the BP gas station and used a stolen debit card to purchase gasoline and other items Oct. 20 at Kwik Trip.

He is charged with two counts of identity theft, both class H felonies, and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, both class A misdemeanors. He faces more than 13 years in prison and up to $40,000 in fines, if convicted.

He remains free on a $10,000 signature bond.

In another case, the court scheduled a March 4 district attorney conference after Steck after he pleaded not guilty to bail jumping.

Court records indicate he was out past his court ordered curfew Dec. 14 in Monroe.

He is charged with bail jumping, a class H felony. He faces up to six years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines, if convicted.

He remains free on a $2,000 signature bond.

Misdemeanors

• The court Monday sentenced Bradley J. Chadwick, 36, Monroe, to 20 days in jail with one day credit after pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana.

He faced up to six months in jail and up to $1,000 as part of the plea agreement for the unclassified misdemeanor.

The court dismissed one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Court records indicate he had 47 grams of marijuana in his possession Dec. 5 in Monroe.

• The court Monday sentenced Michael A. Chase, 18, Monroe, to five days in jail with one day credit after he pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana.

He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class A misdemeanor.

The court dismissed one count of bail jumping, also a class A misdemeanor.

Court records indicate he had marijuana in his possession Sept. 29 in Monroe.

In another case, Chase was sentenced to 18 months probation after he pleaded no contest to battery.

He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 as part of the plea agreement for the class A misdemeanor.

The court dismissed a charge of obstructing an officer, a class A misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor.

Court records indicate he hit a man Aug. 27 in Twining Park.

• The court Friday sentenced Daniel F. Baumgartner, 21, Monroe, to one year probation after he pleaded no contest to theft.

He faced up to nine months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class A misdemeanor.

Court records indicate he told employees he was authorized to charge four new tires to a person Nov. 20 at GCR Tire Center.

• The court Monday entered into a deferred prosecution agreement with Sherry L. Hafen, 41, Brodhead, who pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct.

She faced up to three months in jail and up to $1,000 as part of the agreement for the class B misdemeanor.

The court dismissed a charge of criminal damage to property, a class A misdemeanor.

Court records indicate she threw a shoe at a man, spit on him, broke a table and broke a candy jar Sept. 22 in a Decatur township residence.

• The court Monday scheduled a Feb. 19 district attorney conference for Jesse J. Evans, 25, Monroe, who pleaded not guilty to bail jumping, attempted battery and disorderly conduct.

Court records indicate he head-butted a man, threatened the man and called him names Jan. 13 in Monroe. He was on bond for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in Jefferson County at the time of the incident.

He is charged with bail jumping and attempted battery, both class A misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He faces more than one year in jail and up to $16,000 in fines, if convicted.

He remains free on a $1,000 signature bond.
