Felonies
- The court Thursday set a Jan. 18 district attorney conference for Dwayne P. Helmer, 40, Albany, who pleaded not guilty to charges related to a domestic disturbance and waved a preliminary hearing.
Court records allege Helmer, on or about Dec. 25 and 26, 2010, made 21 telephone calls to a Monticello woman to harass and threaten her; used violence toward a woman in Albany while carrying a concealed knife and threw clothing and Christmas presents outside and then set fire to them; and repeatedly tried to stab a man in the Village of Albany. During the above incidents, Helmer was in violation of the terms of a $4,000 signature bond from Sept. 27, 2010, in Green County Circuit Court where he was charged with a felony crime of physical abuse to a child.
He is charged with unlawful use of a telephone to threaten to do harm and disorderly conduct, both class B misdemeanors; carrying a concealed weapon, a class A misdemeanor; second degree reckless endangerment with the use of a dangerous weapon, a class F felony; and bail jumping, a class H felony. He faces more than 17 years in prison and up to $47,000 in fines, if convicted. He remains free on a $2,000 cash bond and a $3,000 signature bond.
Misdemeanors
- The court Thursday fined Bruce M. Trumble, 21, Browntown, $379 for illegal possession of prescription drugs.
Court records indicate Trumble has two tablets of Vicodin in his pocket on or about Sept. 6 in the City of Monroe.
He was charged with possession of illegally obtained prescription drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor. He faced six months in jail and $500 in fines. The court dismissed one count of possession of a non-narcotic drug without a prescription, an unclassified misdemeanor, which carries 30 days in jail and $500 in fines.
- The court Thursday fined Kurt W. Lucarz, 21, Madison, $330 for negligent operation of a vehicle; criminal damage to property; and obstructing an officer, all class A misdemeanors.
Court records indicated Lucarz, on or about June 26, 2010, drove a pickup truck at high speed through a campgrounds on County E in the Town of Decatur, endangering the safety of other campers; damaged corn growing in the fields; and refused to identify himself to an officer investigating the incident. He faced $30,000 and 27 months in jail.
- The court Thursday fined Amanda M. Vey, 20, Adams, $393 for disorderly conduct. Court records indicated Vey, on or about Mar. 18, 2010, punched a woman in the head, punched the side of a building and tried to punch the woman a second time outside of a residence in the City of Brodhead.
She was charged with disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. She faced 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines.
n The court Thursday set a Jan. 18 plea/sentencing hearing for Hector Castellanos Martinez, 30, Monroe, pleaded not guilty August 30, 2010, to battery and disorderly conduct. Court records allege Martinez, on or about April 25, 2010, hit a woman in the back of the head, the face, the stomach and the leg at a residence in the City of Monroe. He is charged with battery, a class A misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He faces up to 12 months in jail and $11,000 in fines, if convicted.
