The court Wednesday scheduled a Sept. 16 district attorney conference for Nathan P. Hess, 19, Freeport, who pleaded not guilty to child abuse and substantial battery.
Court records allege he hit a 16-year-old Monroe male in the face Jan. 21 near Monroe High School. The male fell down and sustained a concussion and other injuries.
Hess is charged with physical abuse of a child, a class E felony, and substantial battery, a class I felony.
He remains free on a $2,000 signature bond.
