Donald B.J. Coffey, 20, Janesville, was charged Thursday with two counts of exposing a child to harmful materials for allegedly sending two Facebook messages containing sexually explicit images to a teen-age girl. He sent the first picture in July 2014 and the second June 14 from his Facebook account, which was registered under the name "Dopey Puffington," court documents show. According to transcripts of their conversations on the social network, Coffey vividly described sexual acts he wanted to perform with the girl. When investigators interviewed Coffey, they reportedly observed one of his hands had a tattoo similar to one depicted in the pictures. Coffey told police he sent explicit pictures to the girl, who he thought was 18 at the time, court records indicate. Coffey faces up to 7 years in prison if convicted on both charges. He has an initial appearance Sept. 14.
Travis R. Doyle, 21, Belleville, was granted a deferred prosecution agreement Friday after he pleaded no contest July 22 to a felony count of forgery and misdemeanor counts of theft and unlawful entry into a room. The forgery conviction will be dismissed in July 2017 if he follows all conditions of the agreement. He was sentenced to two years of probation for the misdemeanors, with the sentences to be served concurrently. The misdemeanor convictions may be expunged if he successfully completes his probation term. He is ordered to continue to follow the conditions of a $1,000 signature bond he signed July 22, which orders him not to possess checks or financial instruments unless they're in his name or made out to him. He also must undergo assessments for alcohol and drug use and agree to any additional treatment or counseling his probation officers deem appropriate. Lastly, he must pay $620 in restitution and $972 in court costs. The convictions stem from an April 16 incident in which Doyle entered the bedroom of a man he knows, used the man's checkbook to fraudulently write himself three checks for a total of $560, and stole items he later sold at a Madison pawn shop.

Kayla D. Graff, 24, Belleville, was charged Thursday with possessing drug paraphernalia after officers allegedly found syringes, cotton balls, Q-tips, alcohol prep pads and tin cup cookers in her car. Police received a report of a driver who was all over the road and after locating the car, stopped it on 18th Avenue at Wisconsin 69 in Monroe. Officers noted in their report that when they made contact with Graff, her pupils were constricted and she had scratches, scabs and abrasions on her arms and face. Officers administrated a battery of standardized field sobriety tests, after which they arrested Graff for first-offense operating while intoxicated. She was transported to Monroe Clinic for a blood draw and medical clearance, and then taken to jail. She was also cited for operating after suspension. She has an initial appearance Aug. 10.
Dire N. Wolf, 40, New Glarus, was granted a deferred prosecution agreement Friday after he pleaded no contest to two disorderly conduct charges in separate cases. As part of the agreement, two charges of resisting arrest and a third disorderly conduct charge were dismissed. The charges he pleaded no contest to will be dismissed after a year if he follows all conditions of the agreement. He is ordered to follow the conditions of $2,000 and $1,000 signature bonds he signed Friday that order him not to drink or have violent or abusive contact with a woman or two girls he knows. He must commit no new crimes and attend quarterly monitoring conferences. He also must pay court costs; police records indicate he owes the court $336. One of the disorderly conduct convictions stems from a Dec. 19 incident at his residence in the 500 block of 10th Avenue in which he yelled and swore at the woman and stumbled into her, causing her to fall into a closet. His blood-alcohol concentration was reportedly 0.25 percent. The other conviction stems from a Feb. 21 incident in which he grabbed one of the girls by the ankle, got in the other girl's face and later tried to prevent police from questioning them.
