The court Thursday scheduled a May 6 district attorney conference for Kelly F. Winters, 38, Brodhead, who pleaded not guilty to physical abuse of a child and disorderly conduct.
Court records allege Winters hit a 17-year-old female in the face, causing her to fall down and hit her head, and also argued and yelled with another woman March 16 at a Brodhead residence.
He is charged with physical abuse of a child, a class H felony, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He faces more than six years in prison and up to $11,000 in fines, if convicted.
He remains free on a $2,500 signature bond.
Robert L. Short, 27, Baileyville, Ill., remains free on a $5,000 signature bond after making his initial appearance for drug charges.
Court records allege he had marijuana and cocaine in his possession April 13 in Monroe. He was convicted of possession of marijuana in Stephenson County, Ill., in 2004.
He is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine, both class I felonies. He faces up to seven years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines, if convicted.
His preliminary hearing is May 9.
Loren J. Olson Jr., 41, Brodhead, remains free on a $5,000 signature bond after making his initial appearance Tuesday for bail jumping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Court records allege he drank alcohol while on bond for second-degree reckless endangerment, use of a dangerous weapon, obstructing an officer and possession of a firearm while intoxicated and also encouraged a 17-year-old male to violate his bond not to posses or consume alcohol April 14 in Brodhead.
He is charged with bail jumping, a class H felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a child, a class A misdemeanor. He faces more than six years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines, if convicted.
His district attorney conference is May 9.
