SUN PRAIRIE - Cindy L. Yelk, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at St. Mary's ER in Sun Prairie. She was born on August 5, 1967, in Monroe, and was the daughter of Oscar and Norma (Zettle) Olson. She married Douglas Yelk on September 12, 1992, at St. Victor's Catholic Church in Monroe.
Cindy grew up near Browntown on the family farm. She was a graduate of Monroe High School, class of 1985. Cindy was voted as Browntown Dairy Queen and also the Monroe Cheese Days Queen. She graduated from U.W. Platteville with an Ag Business degree and was a Ceres member. She was presently the clerk of the Town of Sun Prairie. Cindy loved her family and friends. She also enjoyed her stained glasswork and time at the cabin with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Doug; daughter Kelly; son Jacob; parents Oscar and Norma of Monroe; 2 sisters Tracy (Eric) Beckman of Browntown and Rebecca (Lance) Marty of Browntown; father and mother-in-law Bernard and Betty Yelk of Cottage Grove; brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg (Karin) Yelk of Stoughton, and Vicki (Howie) Chaussee of Sun Prairie; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and aunt Luella Masters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Father Savio Yerasani will preside. Burial will be at Pierceville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie, and from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the Church on Monday.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
