Christian J. Thompson, age 96 of Argyle, WI, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, WI. He was born October 16, 1913 in Argyle Township in Lafayette County, WI, the son of Oscar and Amelia (Erickson) Thompson. Christian graduated from Argyle High School in 1931. He was united in marriage to Viola Komprood on June 15, 1940 at East Wiota Parsonage. Christian lived and farmed in Argyle Township with his wife until retiring to Argyle in 1976.

Christian is survived by three children: Janet Marie (Harvey) Andrews, and Christian Harold (Rita) Thompson both of rural Argyle, and Linda Kay (Charles) O'Rourke of Rockford, IL; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Viola on July 26, 2007; and four sisters: Alice Brobst, Mildred Lancaster, Hazel Hubb, and Ethel Carlson.

Christian was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church and past council member. He was a past school board member of Mud Branch Rural School. Christian enjoyed spending time with his family and working on the farm.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, at Wiota Lutheran Church, 6682 State Highway 78 in rural South Wayne, WI, with Rev. Carol Johnson of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington officiating. Burial will be in West Wiota Cemetery in rural Gratiot, WI. A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday, August 20, 2010. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
