Carolyn K. Saalsaa, age 67, of Blanchardville, WI, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 8, 1946, in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Kenneth and Bernice (Zimmerman) Keesey. Carolyn graduated from Orfordville High School and later attended Cosmetology School at Black Hawk Technical College. She was united in marriage to Merton "Dean" Saalsaa on September 26, 1967 in Rockford, IL. Carolyn farmed with her husband, Dean, on the family farm in rural Argyle until 1984. She worked at the Monroe, Dodgeville, and Darlington job centers. Carolyn also worked at Cenex Gas Station in Argyle for a number of years.
Carolyn is survived by her mother: Bernice Keesey of Brodhead, WI; three sons: Robert (Hayley) Saalsaa of rural Argyle, Richard (Jessica) Saalsaa of Blanchardville, and Dan Saalsaa of Argyle; one daughter: Minda Saalsaa of Argyle; four granddaughters: Alisha Esselstein, Jena Saalsaa, Kendyl Ruf, and Tessa Saalsaa; one brother: Richard (Maxine) Keesey of Pflugerville, TX; and two sisters: Kathy (Jake) Atkinson of Brodhead, and Christine Hallas of Carmel, CA. She was preceded in death by her father: Kenneth Keesey on January 31, 2008; her husband: Dean on July 3, 2008; one son: Aaron Saalsaa on March 31, 2013; and one brother: Phil Keesey on June 16, 1990.
Carolyn was a past member of Argyle Lutheran Church and its Women of ELCA. She loved to cook and was very good at it. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping, and going for rides in the car. Carolyn's true passion in life was taking care of her family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Argyle Lutheran Church, 100 East Street in Argyle with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman of Yellowstone Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
