MONROE - Two men, arrested Jan. 31 after the owner of the home they allegedly had broken into followed them in her car, remain jailed after making their initial appearances Tuesday in Green County Circuit Court.

Timothy L. Garland, 26, Beloit, is charged with burglary, a class F felony, and criminal damage to property and theft, both class A misdemeanors, as a repeat offender. He was convicted of battery to a police officer in 2005.

He faces more than 22 years in prison and up to $45,000 in fines, if convicted.

Phillip K. Saeger, 56, Beloit, is charged with burglary, a class F felony, two counts of bail jumping, both class H felonies, and theft and criminal damage to property, both class A misdemeanors. He was on bond for burglaries in Fond du Lac and Washington counties.

He faces more than 25 years in prison and up to $65,000 in fines, if convicted.

Court records indicate they broke a door to enter a Spring Grove residence Jan. 31 and took cash, a camera and a video camera.

The owner of the residence, Susan Johnson, was at her neighbor's house when she saw their truck leave her garage at W1084 Pedee Road.

Johnson contacted the Green County Sheriff's department and followed the two men as they drove into Rock County. She stayed in contact with the sheriff's department to let them know the location of the two men.

They were about 12 miles from Johnson's home when arrested.

They remain jailed on $10,000 cash bonds.
