BRODHEAD - The Brodhead Police Department announced this week it will hold a seminar Wednesday, April 24, to educate the public about scams and frauds.

The free seminar will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. in the meeting room at the Brodhead Public Library, 1207 25th St. There will be informational handouts and local bank representatives on hand to answer questions.

In 2012, Americans older than 65 were scammed out of more than $2.5 billion dollars, according to Brodhead police. The seminar is aimed at helping people learn how to protect themselves from becoming a victim to such fraud.
