Bicycling death ruled accidental

MONROE - An autopsy performed Friday confirmed William C. McKee, 46, of Brodhead died as a result of injuries sustained in a bicycle accident Thursday on Hoosier Road in Spring Grove township.

According to the Green County Sheriff's Department, the incident has been ruled an accidental death.

McKee fell off his bike, which resulted in the fatal injury.

At about 4 p.m. Thursday, Green County Sheriff's deputies, Brodhead EMS and Green County Deputy Coroner Kris Haase responded to Hoosier Road in Spring Grove Township after a passing motorist found a man and a bicycle in the ditch line. The man was identified as McKee. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation indicated that McKee was seen by a relative around 1:30 p.m., indicating the accident occurred within a few hours of the discovery.
