Betty L. Bernet, age 68 of rural Argyle, WI, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born January 13, 1942 in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Harold and Geneva (Torkelson) Ayen. Betty was united in marriage to Daniel Bernet on November 13, 1960 at Argyle Lutheran Church in Argyle. They farmed for twenty years on Highway H in Blanchardville, WI. In 1987, they moved to Argyle Township where they continued to farm.
Betty is survived by her husband: Danny at home; three children: Lori (David) Hackett of Stoughton, WI, Randy Bernet and Aaron (Mary) Bernet, both of rural Argyle; four grandchildren: Kimberly Valenzuela, Mark Roethke, Brandon Bernet, and Bradley Bernet; two great-grandchildren: Addyson and Riven; three brothers: David Ayen of Monroe, Dean (Nancy) Ayen of Delevan, WI, half-brother: Jerry (Mary) Ayen of Park Falls, WI; and four nephews and nieces: Richard, Holly, Eric, and Carla. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Dale Ayen.
Betty was a member of Pecatonica Lutheran Parish and its Women of the ELCA. She loved cooking, playing euchre, and watching sports, especially football. Betty had a very strong faith and enjoyed watching The Hour of Power and Apostolate to the Handicapped with Monsignor Campion on TV.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Blanchardville Lutheran Church, 305 Madison Street in Blanchardville, WI, with Rev. Mark Gruner of Pecatonica Lutheran Parish officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from noon until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
