Betty A. Waefler, age 86 of Monroe, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at her home. She was born September 26, 1923 at Ridgeway, WI, the daughter of Carl Otto and Myrtle (Hanson) Brattlie.
Betty and John Waefler were married on December 11, 1941 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church and they farmed in Jefferson Township until moving to Monroe in 1969. Betty then worked at The Swiss Colony Bakery until retiring. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Women of the Moose Chapter #599, and Monroe Eagles Club.
Surviving are her son, Robert (Sandy) Waefler of Monroe; daughters, Donna Amacher of Monroe and Carol Armstrong of Monroe; sisters, Delores (Louie) Swingen, Lois Martinson, Marlene Holum, and Rita (John) Hughes, all of Mt. Horeb; grandchildren, Debra (Lovera) Richardson, Delinda (Dan) Goepfert, Louis (Josephine) Armstrong, Jesse (Shawn) Armstrong, Michele (James) Turner, and Jeffrey Waefler; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, John Waefler; and grandson, Jason Jon Waefler.
Betty enjoyed sewing, playing cards, reading, listening to music, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe with Rev. Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
