BRODHEAD - Bernard R. Smith, age 76, of Brodhead, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead. He was born on April 2, 1934 in Albany, WI, the son of Marvin and Arvetta (Wiedman) Smith. He married Velda Wahl on June 26, 1957 in Brodhead.
Bernard was a truck driver for Knight Mfg. of Brodhead, retiring in 1996. He also was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He loved the outdoors and being with family.
He is survived by his wife, Velda, of Monroe, two sons, Tim (Kathy) Smith, Brodhead, and Todd (Judy) Smith, Appleton, four grandchildren, Emily, Lindsey, Heidi, and Sarah, and a great-grandson, Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Charles.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Pastor Steve Groves officiating.
