Barbara "Bobbie" Joann Green, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 surrounded by her family. Bobbie was born in Peoria, Illinois on October 8, 1939 to Harold and Velda (Cooper) Bruce. Rheumatic fever had an impact on her childhood, and she became an avid reader who was in the National Honor Society. Upon graduating high school, she married Burnell Green on September 21, 1957 at Bartonville Methodist Church. They settled in Monticello, Wisconsin, where they raised three sons and a daughter. Bobbie was active in her churches in Florida and Wisconsin, the Red Hat Society, Christian Women's Club, and volunteered as a docent at the Monticello Historical Society. Bobbie also enjoyed visiting other countries. With Bernie at her side, she traveled across America, Canada, and Europe. The snowbirds migrated annually to Leesburg, Florida. They joined the Coachwood Social Club, where Bobbie enjoyed regular gatherings with their Florida friends. She was known for a number of signature dishes. Her wilted lettuce salad would make you cry - literally. Her vinegar and bacon dressing was as good for the sinuses as it was for the soul. Bobbie's kind heart and generosity were the traits she was best known for. Hardly a birthday, anniversary, or Christmas went by without receiving a card in the mail from her. Those physical reminders of her unconditional love will be sorely missed. Of all the interests Bobbie had throughout her life, her greatest joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Norman and Donald, and her little angel grandson, Alan Green. Those left to cherish Barbara's memory are her husband of 60 years, Bernie and their four children: Bob (Carla) Green, Brian (Debbie) Green, Brad (Sheila) Green, Brenda (Michael) Ahern; seven grandchildren: Nicholas Green, Andrea Green, Emigh (Scott) Cannaday, Matthew (Lindsey) Green, Sarah Jo Green, Chad Green, Jesica (Kevin) Jeremiason, Samantha Ahern and Allison Ahern; five great-grandchildren: Sullivan, Millie, Gage, Aria, and Bryson; two sisters: Judy (Jim) Sindt and Evelyn Wyatt.
