Arthur R. Spoerry, Jr., age 87, of Janesville died on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center with his family by his side. He was born in Monroe, WI, on June 13, 1928, the son of the late Arthur R. and Eileen (Yaegers) Spoerry, Sr. Arthur graduated from Monroe High School and later married Clarice E. Synstegard on May 11, 1950 in Brodhead, WI.
Arthur served his country by serving in the National Guard for a couple of years. Art and his wife owned and operated the Green County House for 12 years after his parents sold it to them. He later went to work at the Janesville Data Center at the Brodhead office and retired from there after 15 years. He enjoyed hunting, crossword puzzles, and the outdoors. Art was a wonderful, loyal and quiet gentleman, whose spunky and opinionated personality will be missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Clarice; two children: David (Mary) Spoerry and Cynthia (Dennis) Messerli all of Janesville; grandchildren: Jason (Angelica) Spoerry, Nikki Spoerry, Laurie Ragatz, Sally (Anthony) Hanus, Joseph (Doreen) Messerli, and Malinda (James) Alt; and 4 great-grandchildren: Kyran, Karissa, Taylor, and Tessa. He is further survived by his brother and sisters-in-law: Robert and Marion Spoerry of Monticello, WI and Nancy Spoerry of Monroe, WI. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother: William Spoerry.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Whitcomb-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. Bond Haldeman officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
