MONROE - An Aug. 8 arraignment was scheduled Wednesday for a Monticello man charged with attempted third-degree sexual assault and substantial battery.

Todd S. Truttman, 39, is charged with attempted third-degree sexual assault, a class G felony, and substantial battery, a class I felony, as a repeat offender. He was convicted of bail jumping and fleeing an officer in 2005. He faces more than 12 years in prison and up to $22,500 in fines, if convicted.

Court records allege he tried to engage in sexual intercourse with a woman and hit her and threw her to the floor May 26 at a Washington township residence. She sustained a broken bone as a result of the punch.

He remains free on a $3,600 signature bond and a $400 cash bond.

In a second case, Truttman will be arraigned Aug. 8 for two counts of bail jumping and two counts of violating a domestic abuse order.

Court records allege he tried to contact a woman against the court's orders June 22 and June 27 in Washington township. He was on bond for attempted third-degree sexual assault and substantial battery at the time of the incidents.

He is charged with two counts of bail jumping, both class H felonies, and violating a domestic abuse order, both unclassified misdemeanors. He faces more than 20 years in prison and up to $22,000 in fines, if convicted.
