Ambrose "Andy" Waelti , age 87 of Monroe, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Janesville. Andy was born on September 6, 1928 in Monroe, the son of Christ and Ruth (Sharer) Waelti. He graduated from Juda High School in 1946. Andy married Leah Wand on October 8, 1955 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gratiot. He farmed on the Waelti home farm in Sylvester Township most of his life and also was a salesman for Tracy Seeds for several years. He and Leah moved to Monroe in 1989. Andy was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church, the Catholic Knights, and Monroe Moose Lodge #754. He loved his family and the time spent with his grandchildren. Andy enjoyed playing cards (especially Yass) with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Leah Waelti of Monroe; six children, Michael (Annette) of Vinton, VA, Richard and fiancée Bobbi Olp of Seymour, WI, Robert (Jouselith) of Juda, Marlene (Bruce) Schaefer of Eagan, MN, Greg (Lisa) of Janesville, and Mary (Rick) Koenig of Monroe; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Norbetta Wyss of Eau Claire, WI; and two sisters-in-law, Clara Waelti of Rockford, and Beulah Waelti of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rita Johnson; and five brothers, Cyril, Vincent, Thomas, Aloysius, and Lawrence Waelti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke, Celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Andy's name. Condolences may be sent at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.
