NEW GLARUS - Alvin August "Allie" Fiez, age 94, of New Glarus passed away on February 5, 2011 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 25, 1916 in New Glarus the son of August and Anna (Koller) Fiez. Allie was married to Charline Keegan on December 13, 1958 at St. Victor's Church in Monroe. He graduated from New Glarus High School in 1935. Allie worked at several jobs and retired from Strickler's Meat Market and New Glarus Foods in 1981. He was a member of the New Glarus Eagles and also the Degree Team. Allie enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, and playing cards.

Allie is survived by a sister Anna Yaun of Belvidere, IL, sister-in-law Dorothy Fiez of Rockford, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charline, parents, sisters Ellen Minter and Margaret Yaun, and brothers Leon and Donald.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Avenue, New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Craig Jan-McMahon officiating with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe.

Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, New Glarus. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in memory of Allie.
