LENA - Alvena E. Meier, 97, died on April 3, 2008, at the Monroe Manor
Nursing Home of Monroe, WI. She was born in Lafayette County, WI, on October
6, 1910, the daughter of Ferdinand and Bertha (Howe) Boelk. Alvena married
Eddie Meier on December 21, 1931 at the Lutheran Church in Freeport, IL.
Alvena was a member of the Nora Unit of Home Extension, and Nora Community
Church Ladies Aid, and she loved her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons: Lee (Karen) of Monroe, WI, Robert (Gareda) of
Morse, TX, Dean (Millie) of Freeport, IL; 11 grandchildren and numerous
great-grandchildren; and two special angels: Robin Montgomery and Melissa
Determan.
She is preceded by her parents; husband; three brothers, Art, Paul and John;
one sister, Emma; and three step-brothers and sisters, Anna, Rose and
William.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday April 7, 2008 at the
St. Paul¹s Lutheran Church of Warren, IL. Funeral service will be at 2:30
p.m. following visitation. Rev. Margo Peterson will officiate. Burial will
be at Elmwood Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the St. Paul's
