Alice Louise Babler, 61, of Mt. Morris, IL. passed away on Monday afternoon, February 20th at Park Ridge Care Center in Park Ridge, IL. where she had been living since August.
She was preceded in death by her parents Myron and Frances (Lawver) Babler, her nephew Christopher Crowell of Peoria and maternal and paternal grandparents. Alice is survived by a sister Mary Jane (Ronald) Crowell of Peoria and two brothers, Myron (Rosalie) Babler of Malakoff, TX. and Charles (Ruth) Babler of Mt. Morris. She has enjoyed being Aunt to 13 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews.
Alice was born on June 4th 1950 in Freeport to Myron and Frances (Lawver) Babler. She was one of the founding clients of the Village of Progress in Oregon, IL. which opened its doors in 1969. She began working at Village of Progress when she was nineteen and was there until she retired last year. The Village of Progress staff and clients were an important part of Alice's daily life, she loved the Village and they were surely extended family to her.
She was very active in Special Olympics for many years and enjoyed basketball and bowling. Alice enjoyed life and loved people, everyone was her friend. She especially loved the farm where she had been raised and her family and church, The Evangelical Free Church of Mt. Morris.
Services will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00 at The Evangelical Free Church of Mt. Morris with a visitation on Friday evening from 5:00-6:30 at Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt Street in Mt. Morris. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Freeport, IL. A memorial has been established for the Village of Progress.
