Adda Jayne Gehrt, 86, of 251 East Main Street, Shullsburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010.

Services for Adda will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2010, at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 344 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg. Friends may call at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home, 235 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2010, and on Friday, November 19, 2010, after 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com .

Adda was born on April 27, 1924 in Shullsburg, daughter of Curtis and Hazel (Cherry) Lyne. She married Leonard J. Kittoe on June 19, 1943 in Norman, Oklahoma. They farmed and raised their family in the Shullsburg area until his death on December 16, 1967. Adda married Dean W. Gehrt on August 13, 1977 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Shullsburg. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2008.

Adda worked at Shullsburg Veterinary Service for over 25 years, where she was known as "Angel One." She was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, very active in the American Legion Auxiliary and other community Activities. Adda enjoyed playing cards, selling raffle tickets and going to the casino. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her wonderful family.

Left to honor her memory are her children: Sherry (Dick) Roddick of Shullsburg, Helen Olmstead of Jacksonville, NC, Ron (Joani) Kittoe of Clinton, IA, Larry (Kim) Kittoe of Kansas City, MO, Janice Prechel and Patricia (Patrick) Teasdale both of Monroe, WI; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters; a sister: Shirley (Joe) Zimmerly of Shullsburg; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Also, surviving her are seven special Guardian Angels: Donna Nethery, Twyla Mick, Lynn Olson, Mary Jo Reyna, Barbara Rees, Cindy Teutschmann, and Heather Mick.

Adda was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law: Harlan Prechel; three sisters: Violet Kilcoyne, Alice Hendrickson, and Dorothy Dorsey; and two brothers: Howard and Dale Lyne.

The family would like to thank the staff at Shullsburg Clinic and Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County for the care given to their Mother. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Bernardoni for his support and compassion during this difficult time.
