NEW GLARUS - More than 70 people got free rides home from the Oktoberfest revelry in New Glarus this past weekend thanks to a partnership between police, Green Cab of Madison and the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce.
Police helped coordinate 36 rides home for 73 people, according to Chief of Police Burt Boldebuck.
"Based on the success of the program this year, it is sure to be back next year," he said in a news release Tuesday, Oct. 1. He credits Green Cab owners John and Jodie Schmidt and the Chamber of Commerce "for making our first ever 'Safe Rider' program a success."
