Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On Monday, Sept. 17:

•  Suspicious activity was reported at 12:18 a.m. on Bennett Road, Town of New Diggings.

•  A deputy assisted the Grant County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic complaint at 9:05 a.m. on County XX, Town of Belmont. The Belmont Police Department assisted on scene.

•  Trespassing was reported at 10:12 a.m. to County G, Town of Willow Springs.

•  Deputies responded for a welfare check at 1:53 p.m. on East Center Street in South Wayne.

•  A deputy responded for a welfare check at 3:35 p.m. on County XX, Town of Belmont.

•  A hit and run was reported at 6:26 p.m. on Arbor Street in Benton.

•  Thomas C. Griner, 19, Peosta, Iowa, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at 7:54 p.m. on West Mound Road, Town of Belmont.

•  Nikolette M. Rhodes, 18, Platteville, was cited for speeding at 8:08 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington.

•  Fawaz Alshammari, 20, Platteville, was cited for speeding at 8:30 p.m. on County XX, Town of Belmont.

•  Joshua S. Hoffman, 34, Browntown, was cited for operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance at 9:16 p.m. on Fox Valley Road, Town of Wayne.

•  Five people on mopeds were cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at 9:30 p.m. on County B, Town of Belmont: Zachariah S. Tolzman, 20, and Jacob A. Brokish, 21, both of Dodgeville, Taylor D. Chwala, 20, Jefferson, Ian J. Allaman, 19, Monmouth, Illinois, and

Matthew F. Mawhinney, 20, Darien.

•  Joshua R. Euler, 28, Winslow, was cited for operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance at 9:47 p.m. on Fox Valley Road, Town of Wayne.

•  Jacob S. McPhail, 26, Dickeyville, was cited for an expired vehicle registration at 10:54 p.m. on County XX, Town of Belmont.

•  John T. Zurawski, 20, Glendale, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at 11:16 p.m. on County B, Town of Belmont.

•  Suspicious activity was reported at 11:58 p.m. on County I, Town of New Diggings.

On Tuesday, Sept. 18:

•  Terrence J. O’Neill, 51, Rewey, was cited for theft and operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance at 12:37 a.m. on West Mound Road, Town of Belmont.

•  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 11:37 a.m. on County F, Town of Fayette.

•  Deputies responded for a 911 misdial at 4:19 p.m. on North Judgement Street in Shullsburg.

•  Robert Johnson, 56, Belvidere, Illinois, was cited for speeding at 5:55 p.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Gratiot.

•  Kathleen J. Klar, 24, Platteville, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at 7:10 p.m. on West Mound Road, Town of Belmont.

•  Georgia G. Schwarzmann, 20, Platteville, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at 11:34 p.m. on County B, Town of Belmont.

On Wednesday, Sept. 19:

•  Wayne J. Jentz, 55, Platteville, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at 12:26 a.m. on East Mound Road, Town of Belmont.

•  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 11:21 a.m. on County F, Town of Fayette.

•  A deputy responded for a welfare check at 3:23 p.m. on County G, Town of Belmont.

•  A deputy responded for a 911 misdial at 3:32 p.m. on East Liberty Street in Belmont.

•  Richard W. Ubersox, 25, Cuba City, was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated at 6:49 on Prairie Road, Town of Kendall. He was transported to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, where he was released to a responsible party.


Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of Sept. 9 to 15, police performed 44 security checks, 29 citizen assists, 20 assists of other agencies, 19 vehicle registrations and 13 follow-ups to incidents; responded to 11 calls for service, 10 EMS calls, six 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls; made three traffic stops and responded to one fire call. No mental health or detox transports were reported.

On Sunday, Sept. 9:

•  An assault involving an altercation between several people was reported at 2:41 a.m. in the 1100 block of Center Avenue.

•  A Brodhead man, 42, was arrested on a Brodhead Municipal Court warrant at 4:46 a.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue.

On Monday, Sept. 10:

•  A parking complaint involving a vehicle in violation of 48-Hour Parking and Junk Vehicle ordinances was reported at 1:04 p.m. in the 800 block of East Exchange Street.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11:

•  A Beloit man, 25, was arrested on a charge of possessing drug paraphernalia at 6:48 a.m. in the 300 block of 23rd Street.

On Wednesday, Sept. 12:

•  An Oregon man, 36, was arrested at 5:59 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 2nd Avenue on a warrant issued by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday, Sept. 13:

•  A traffic crash on private property was reported at 12:49 p.m. in the 200 block of 1st Street. A parked vehicle was struck by another vehicle. As it occurred on private property, no citations were issued.

•  A vehicle in violation of the city’s Junk Vehicle ordinance was reported at 3:26 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 8th Avenue. A warning was issued.

•  A vehicle in violation of the city’s Junk Vehicle ordinance was reported at 3:44 p.m. in the 100 block of 12th Street. A warning was issued.

•  Vehicles in violation of the city’s Junk Vehicle ordinance were reported at 3:56 p.m. in the 900 block of East 6th Avenue. A warning was issued.

On Friday, Sept. 14:

•  Damage to vehicle tires was reported at 6:50 a.m. in the 800 block of East 2nd Avenue.

On Saturday, Sept. 15:

•  A Brodhead man, 89, was cited for parking left of center at 9:51 a.m. in the 500 block of East 2nd Avenue.


Darlington Police

DARLINGTON — Michelle A. Hines, 51, Waterloo, Iowa, was cited for disorderly conduct following a disturbance at Dollar General at 5:23 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17.

•  Julie M. Lofftin, 43, Darlington, was arrested at her residence on East Street at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, on a warrant issued by the Probation and Parole Office. She was jailed.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — Steven M.K. Futch, 25, Brodhead, was arrested at the Green County Sheriff’s Office on a civil warrant issued by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office at 3:54 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17. He was turned over to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and jailed in Darlington.


Monroe Police

MONROE — A toolbox found in the 1700 block of 8th Avenue at about 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, was taken to the police department, where it may be claimed by the owner.
