DARLINGTON — Darlington police managed to arrest and charge the same man with Operating Under the Influence twice on the same day.

According to police reports, Kevin Garcia-Martinez, age 24, of Darlington, was arrested just after 5:05 a.m. on Sunday, April 24 following a traffic stop on Washington Street — after he reportedly nearly struck a police car.

Garcia-Martinez was also cited at that time for operating without a valid license, failure to yield the right-of-way from a parked position, and no insurance. Garcia-Martinez was then transported to jail, here he was booked and later released to a “sober party. “

He was arrested again a few hours later — just after 12:35 p.m. — for operating while under the influence following another traffic stop on E. Cornelia Street. Garcia-Martinez was also arrested for bail jumping and received additional citations for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.  Garcia-Martinez was transported to jail and his vehicle was towed by police

He is scheduled to appear again at 8:30 a.m. May 2 in Lafayette County Circuit Court.
