DARLINGTON — The 29-year-old mother accused of killing her grandmother-in-law will have her case heard under a new judge. Less than a week after Lafayette County Circuit Court Judge Duane Jorgenson approved the request, Dane County Circuit Court Judge Mario White was assigned as the replacement.

Andrea Winder, the attorney for Shannon Bussan, requested the change of judge March 28 during a status conference. Bussan’s next court date will be an arraignment hearing at 11:30 a.m. on May 26 in Lafayette County Court.

White is one of 17 judges in Dane County. He took office in 2020, and was re-elected in April 2021. His current term ends Aug. 1, 2027. He received a BA from Oklahoma State University, and a JD from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2008. Before becoming judge, he was the Dane County Court Commissioner from 2018-202, and was an assistant public defender for a decade before that.
