Green County

Felonies

●  Michael John Boroczk Jr., 28, New Glarus, was charged April 21 with four counts of felony bail jumping and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and battery, stemming from a welfare check April 3 at his mother’s house in New Glarus. According to the criminal complaint, she told police her son was “acting odd” and when she confronted him about his drug use, he pushed her up against a wall and injured her finger. Boroczk told police he had done about 30 shots of Fireball cinnamon whiskey that day. Due to concerns that he had also taken a large quantity of pills and was showing signs of overdosing, he was taken to Monroe Clinic. As a result of the incident, District Attorney Craig Nolen refiled charges from a previously dismissed case against Boroczk, including a felony charge of maintaining a drug-trafficking place. The case was originally dismissed in March 2019 as an incentive for Boroczk to continue in the Dane County Drug Court Program. It stems from an investigation into an anonymous tip in January 2019 that “gram quantities of methamphetamine” were being kept at a home in the 1300 block of 2nd Street in New Glarus. A search warrant yielded about “150 used syringes located throughout the master bedroom,” among other drug paraphernalia. Court records also indicate people were using heroin in the residence, and there had been a recent overdose. One person told police there was no meth left in the house because they had used it all. Boroczk also has open drug cases in Dane County.

●  April Lynn (Shireman) Phillips, 45, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was charged April 28 with six Class H felony counts of forgery, one Class H felony count of fraud against a financial institution and three misdemeanor counts of fraud against a financial institution. The criminal complaint indicates she cashed or attempted to cash forged checks at Sugar River Bank in New Glarus in December for money to support a drug habit and owed the bank $2,088.84.
