MONROE — A Belleville man was scheduled to appear in court this week on charges he committed felony sexual assault and tried to strangle a domestic partner in their Green County home last November.
According to court records, Kendrick Eichelkraut, 33, of Belleville is charged with both second- and third-degree sexual assault, strangulation and suffocation, felony bail jumping and disorderly conduct. The alleged incident occurred at a house on County Road D in the Town of Exeter.
Police were alerted to the abuse that allegedly occurred on Nov. 30 by a 911 caller reporting a fight between Eichelkraut and his live-in girlfriend of two years, with whom he apparently has a child. The 911 caller had been receiving text messages about the dispute from the alleged victim, reports indicate.
At one point in the ordeal, Eichelkraut allegedly forced sex, anal sex and oral sex on her and tried to strangle her with his hands, despite her repeatedly telling him to stop, court records say.
“(Victim 1) advised that the strangulation had lasted for approximately 3 minutes,” said the criminal complaint against him. “(Victim 1) advised that had felt like hours.”
Eichelkraut was set for a preliminary appearance/sentence hearing on January 31 before Green County Circuit Court Judge Faun Phillipson.
The worst charge against Eichelkraut — second-degree sexual assault — is a Class C felony in Wisconsin and punishable by up to 40 years in prison. He would also have to register as a sex offender for life.
Court records indicate that Eichelkraut has been free on bond and has yet to enter a plea in the case. He is represented by attorney Sarah M. Schmeiser, according to court records.
He has had numerous run-ins with the law, including in 2015 when Eichelkraut pleaded no contest to operating with prohibited alcohol concentration, his fourth OWI in five years. He has a 5th OWI charge pending in court, and is scheduled to appear again on that charge, a felony, on March 23.
