MONROE — The Albany teen charged with shooting his infant in the head and burying her in snow shortly after the baby’s birth last year is seeking a new court to hear his case — filing a change of venue motion in Green County Circuit Court.

Logan T. Kruckenberg-Anderson,16, at the time of the murder, is being tried as an adult in the case. He appeared for a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday before Circuit Judge Thomas J. Vale.

Kruckenberg-Anderson was arrested and charged shortly after the frantic search for a 5-day-old Albany infant came to an end one cold Jan. 10, 2021. That’s when the child’s lifeless body was found not far away at an undisclosed location.

The fact that the baby had been shot wasn’t known to police until they found her in the woods, investigators have said.

The suspect has been charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide and one count of moving/ hiding/burying the corpse of a child. If convicted, Kruckenberg-Anderson faces life in prison.

The incident led state officials to pass a Safe Haven Laws bill aimed at informing Wisconsin teenagers of their options for safely leaving infants without legal action.

“This bill stems from a tragedy involving a newborn baby, Harper, who was found murdered earlier this year in Green County,” said Rep. Todd Novak, a democrat and co-author of the bill.

Kruckenberg-Anderson remains in custody and was represented in Wednesday’s hearing by his attorney, Faun Michelle Moses.

Pre-trial hearings on three separate motions — including the change of venue — are scheduled to resume at 1:15 p.m., June 2, before Judge Vale.
