Update: Brodhead Police investigating drive by shooting

Update, 9:51 a.m., April 9, 2021

The Brodhead Police Department has released the name of the man arrested after a shooting Thursday night. 

Officers arrested Damian Brandt, 19, of Edgerton. Police did so after executing a search warrant at a home Brandt was residing at in Edgerton. Brandt has been booked into the Green County Sheriff's Jail on an initial charge of recklessly endangering safety. Brodhead Police Chief Chris Hughes stated officers executed the search warrant and arrested Brandt without incident. 

Police have probably cause to believe Brandt was shooting at another man Brandt was traveling behind in the area of 4th Street and E. 2nd Ave. Hughes stated since this is an ongoing investigation police can not provide any additional information at this time. 

Brodhead Police were assisted by the Edgerton Police Department.

11:57 p.m., April 8, 2021

BRODHEAD - Police are investigating shots fired Thursday night after vehicle was what shot at in the area of 4th Street and E 2nd Ave.

Officers responded to the shooting 9:27 p.m., Brodhead Police Chief Cris Hughes said. A preliminary investigation indicates a suspect shot at another car, but at this time it is unknown why the car was shot at.

It is believed several shots were fired by the only occupant of the suspect car towards a car in front of it. Hughes said officers have a possible identification of the shooter, but they remain at large. "At this point we believe this was an isolated incident, and therefore there is a not a continued threat to community safety,” Hughes said.

The car that was shot at was hit, and sole occupant was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing. People are asked to stay away from the area of 4th Street and E. 2nd Ave.

Brodhead Police are being assisted by the Green County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol Traffic Reconstruction Unit, and the Brodhead Fire Department.
