MONROE - Police arrested a Monroe man early Sunday, Sept. 30, after investigating a series of thefts out of vehicles.
Tyler D. Bevins, 18, faces charges of burglary, theft and underage drinking. He was jailed.
At 5:49 a.m., a person reported seeing a male in all black with "a bag that jingles" going through cars in the 1300 block of 16th Street.
Officers soon located Bevins and the bag. Contents in the bag also led police to a garage burglary nearby in the 1500 block of 13th Avenue.
Among the items stolen were coins, prescription medication, costume jewelry and two brown leather wallets.
A rash of vehicle break-ins a few blocks away, reported in the same time period early Sunday morning, may also link to Bevins.
Electronics, an iPass, loose change and prescription medication were reported stolen out of vehicles parked in the 1400 block of 22nd Avenue and 1700 block of 21st Avenue. These thefts are still under investigation.
"It's quite possible it's the same suspect," said Chief of Police Fred Kelley. "We have to prove it or he has to 'fess to it."
