MONROE - The Monroe School board tabled a decision on extending administrative contracts Monday night.
Monroe Superintendent Larry Brown said all administrators are under contract for 2011-12. The board could start discussing a two-year administrator contracts for the 2012-13 school year.
Brown said starting contract talks early allows the board time just in case there are issues with performance regarding an administrator.
Brown said from the discussion on the referendum, he understood that an administrative cut in terms of a dollar amount may be something the board still wants on the table.
"I'm not closing the door on that," he said.
Board member Larry Eakins was in support of approving administrative extensions.
"I would like to extend them at this point and time," Eakins said. "I don't want them to think that we are throwing them all down the stream."
Board member Brian Keith said he wanted to wait until after the referendum to start extending administrator contracts.
"I don't want to lose administrators," Keith said.
