ATV crash causes injuries

MONROE — A Monroe woman and her juvenile passenger sustained injuries in an ATV accident Sunday afternoon about a mile east of Monroe, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident was reported at 5:24 p.m. in the W4600 block of Woodridge Drive, Town of Sylvester.

Deputies found that Monique R. Newcomer, 48, lost control of the ATV as she turned right from Stauffacher Road to head northbound on Woodridge Drive. The vehicle tipped over.

Newcomer, who was wearing eye protection but no helmet, was taken by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER for treatment of her injuries.

A juvenile passenger injured in the crash was not wearing eye protection or a helmet and was taken by private vehicle to the Monroe Clinic ER for treatment.

The ATV sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.

Newcomer was cited for operating an ATV on the roadway.
