BRODHEAD/NEW GLARUS - Two annual fall festivals are on tap this weekend, one in Brodhead and the other in New Glarus.
Brodhead's annual AutumnFest celebration will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 downtown. The event will include pumpkin carving and decorating, a scarecrow contest, and a performance from the State Line Playboys.
It will also include the AutumnFest Chili Contest; samples of chili will be available to purchase. During the event, there are children's activities and events, including wagon rides for $1 and children's games for $1 each.
New Glarus' Oktoberfest will run in the downtown area starting today and continuing through Sunday.
Activities will include wagon rides, chainsaw carving on Saturday and a big cheese fondue pot on Sunday.
There will be live music by Pink House from 8 p.m. to midnight tonight. Other music includes the Max Drexler Bavarian Brass Band from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday; The Raindogs from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday; and Boogie and The Yo-yo'z from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday. The Jimmys will perform from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
There is free admission to the festival tent.
