MONROE - The Monroe Arts Center Auction will be from Friday, Nov. 26 through Friday, Dec. 10. This annual holiday shopping tradition once again provides a variety of unique gifts - all displayed at one convenient location. This important annual fundraiser for MAC features hundreds of items.
For the convenience of shoppers, all items will be displayed and arranged by category, and a booklet provided listing available items.
Categories this year include: Original and Limited Editions; Handcrafted and Floral Designs; Something For You; Something For the Home; Theater, Sports and Leisure; Restaurant and Specialty Dinners; and Baked Goods and Specialty Foods.
Some of the items up for bid are handcrafted seasonal centerpieces; art objects; jewelry; gym memberships; tickets to the musical "White Christmas" and "9 to 5" at the Schubert Theater in Chicago, golf packages; Tyrol Basin ski-lift tickets; traditional Swiss dinner for four; gift certificates for clothing, food, and jewelry; Green Bay Packer football and jersey; homemade candy, breads, cookies, cakes, pies, jams, and jellies; and much more.
A highlight of the auction, and popular among young bidders, is the American Girl doll. Each year American Girl introduces a brand-new character doll with an inspirational story of what it means to be an American girl today. Up for bid at the MAC auction is "Lanie," the 2010 American Girl Doll of the Year.
Opening night Friday the auction runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Holiday music and refreshments will add to the opening night's festive experience.
"We have much to be grateful for in this holiday season," said MAC Executive Director Richard Daniels. "A simple review of the long list of unique and wonderful auction items is a testament to the generosity of the people and businesses of Monroe."
Final bids will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 10 at 7:15 p.m., prior to the start of the performance by the Monroe Theater Guild Youth Choir and the MAC Holiday Community Sing-Along.
In addition to the opening night, extended viewing hours are Saturday, Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 28 from noon to 4 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 5 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and Friday, Dec. 10 from 5 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Items may also be viewed during Monroe Arts Center's regular business hours.
