NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus and Green County communities rallied in the month of August to support the preservation of Candy Cane Park and the replacement of its aging playground equipment, raising $520.70. The initiative was made possible through a partnership with Alter Metal Recycling near Monroe.
For the entire month of August, Alter Metal Recycling committed to donating all proceeds from donated scrap metal to New Glarus Cares, a local organization dedicated to preserving Candy Cane Park.
Alter Metal Recycling, with 125 years of experience in the industry, expressed a deep commitment to the community. “Alter Metal Recycling clearly believes in giving back to the community and by partnering with New Glarus Cares they helped us preserve the greenspace adjacent to Candy Cane Park and create a better environment for all,” said Shelly Johnson, President of New Glarus Cares.
With the purchase of the greenspace fully funded, New Glarus Cares is now working to assist with the funding needed to replace the aging playground equipment at Candy Cane Park. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings this vision one step closer to reality.
“We thank Alter Metal Recycling and the New Glarus community for its continued generosity,” Johnson said. “We are now one more step closer to the revitalization of Candy Cane Park, ensuring it remains a beloved gathering place for generations to come.”
