JANESVILLE — The Blackhawk Technical College $32 million referendum question on the Nov. 3 ballot to construct a Public Safety and Transportation Center was approved by voters. The unofficial vote count passed with nearly 60% approval.

In a statement released Nov. 4, BTC President Dr. Tracy Pierner said the school is grateful to district voters for their ongoing support and excited to move this important regional project forward.

“On behalf of Blackhawk Technical College and our students, I want to sincerely thank the voters of Green and Rock Counties for voting and for supporting this project,” Pierner said. “The Public Safety and Transportation Center will have a profound impact on how we deliver essential training needed to keep our communities safe and the local economy growing.”

BTC and the District Board thanked the hundreds of community stakeholders and partners that participated in the planning for the PSTC over the last two years.

“Many have had a hand in making this dream a reality. We are sincerely grateful for your commitment to the Public Safety and Transportation Center and Blackhawk Technical College,” said Dr. Pierner.

The design work for the PSTC will begin immediately, with some construction expected to begin in the spring of 2021.  Progressed can be followed online at Blackhawk.edu/PSTC.
