TOWN OF WASHINGTON — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash after one of the drivers ran a stop sign at a four-way intersection west of Monticello Oct. 22, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened at about 2:50 p.m. at County C and County N, Town of Washington. Deputies and the Wisconsin State Patrol responded.
Benjamin E. England, 54, Brooklyn, was southbound on County N when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection. He collided with a westbound vehicle on County C driven by Jacqueline C. Gilbertson, 41, Argyle.
England’s vehicle then continued through the intersection and collided with a traffic sign and tree.
England and an adult passenger were trapped in his vehicle and extricated by the Monticello Fire Department. Green County EMS transported them to St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. A third passenger in England’s vehicle reported no injuries.
Gilbertson was taken by EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER.
Both vehicles sustained disabling damage, with airbag deployment, and were towed. England was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
