LENA — Family and friends continue to mourn a 10-year-old Winslow boy, who died early Sunday morning after an accident involving a four-wheel Utility Terrain Vehicle just off of McConnell Road in Stephenson County.
Authorities were called to the 8600 block of W. McConnell Road, reportedly for an accident at about 12:45 p.m., according to a statement from the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, they found a 10-year-old boy trapped under a Polaris Ranger off-road vehicle.
“The boy was carefully removed from by rescue personnel and immediately transported to FHN by ambulance,” police said.
But his injuries were so severe, authorities said, he was then flown by life flight helicopter to UW Madison hospital. The boy was later pronounced dead from his injuries at about 1:30 am Sunday morning.
His name had not been released as of press time late Monday.
In 2020, an UTV crash near Darlington killed a 14-year-old and seriously injured his 16-year-old passenger.
