BRODHEAD — Following Governor Evers’ declaration to close the dining rooms of restaurants March 17, local Brodhead restaurant owners met in an emergency session with the Brodhead Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Doug Pinnow to discuss options.
“This action by the governor is putting many of businesses at risk and eliminated the pay checks of many of our citizens,” said Michael Lowery, of the Brodhead Chamber of Commerce. “As a community, we must stand with our businesses and support these hard-working citizens who now are in need.”
Dr. Dan Branson of the Brodhead Dental Clinic suggested that if the community works together, these restaurants could continue to be open and might be able to help others in need.
Restaurants will be operating limited hours and will have shortened menus. They have pledged to help other members of our community who are in need. The Brodhead Chamber of Commerce will have more information regarding the hours of operation for each restaurant and their contact information on Brodhead Chamber of Commerce website. Click on the “Business Updates” tab on brodheadchamber.com.
Many restaurants will be offering a “Pay-As-You-Can” menu. If you are willing to pay extra, the funds will be used to help those who are unable to pay. Contact your local Brodhead restaurant for more details. Please order carry-out and delivery from your local. Purchasing Gift Certificates from your favorite restaurant is also a great means of support.
“The goal is to keep our restaurants operating, keep our citizens working and help those in need of food,” Lowery said. Donations to this program can be made directly to the Brodhead Chamber of Commerce or at any local participating restaurant.
Volunteers are needed who might be willing to deliver meals to the community.
