Monticello’s four-year high school building, circa 1947. Built in 1913 on the same site as the previous 2-year high school building and razed in 1980 to make space for the current school buildings. From Sept. 11, 1916 ad in the Monticello Messenger: Our new high school building is thoroughly modern in every particular. It is well lighted and ventilated, equipped with an approved steam heating system, has bubbling drinking fountains on all floors, indoor toilets and a commodious assembly room.
