NOTICE OF PENDING APPLICATION FOR PROPOSED RIPRAP

Byron Feller, on behalf of Feller Green County Farms LLC, N6437 Schneeberger Road, Monticello, WI 53570 has applied to the Department of Natural Resources for a permit to install roprap on the banks of an unnamed tributary to Little Sugar River. The project located in the NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 14, Township 03 North, Range 08 East, Town of Mount Pleasant, Green County. The project proposes to create streambank stabilization on an unnamed tributary to the Little Sugar River in Green County. The project includes 2,225 linear feet of stabilization, including 600 feet of rip rap and 1,625 feet of bank shaping at a 3:1 slope. Undesirable woody species will be removed on the tops of the banks, along with some in-stream debris to allow for the rip rap installation. Desirable woody species will be left in place. A track-hoe excavator, dump trucks, and a small dozer will be used to excavate the banks and stream bed in place of rock. After project completion, the disturbed areas will be seeded and mulched. Aboout 1 foot of stream bed will be excavated in the rip rap installation process and as a result, approximately 451 cubic yards of spoil will be spread on the adjacent upland ag fields. The Department will review the proposal provided by the applicant and any information from public comments and a public informational hearing, if requested. The Department will determine whether the proposal complies with ss. 1.11 and 30.12(3m), Stats., and ch. NR 150, Wis. Adm. Code, and ensure that the required mitigation meets the standards in s. 281.36(3r), Stats. if the project impacts wetlands. The Department has made a tentative determination that it will issue the permit or contract for the proposed activity.
